Summary
This guide covers receipts — Monument now generates and stores a receipt for every payment and every refund, each with its own unique receipt number. Operators can view, download, and email receipts from a tenant's Billing History, and tenants can view and download their own receipts from the Tenant Portal.
Permissions required:
Invoice / Fee – View — to open and send receipts from Billing History. (No permission needed for tenants to see their own receipts in the Tenant Portal.)
Note: Receipts are generated automatically when a payment or refund is processed — there's no setup step. They're created going forward; payments made before this feature aren't back-filled with receipts.
Finding a receipt (operators)
Open the tenant's account and go to the Billing History tab.
Find the payment or refund in the table. Its receipt is linked in the Reference column (the column previously labeled "Invoice"), alongside invoice and invoice-adjustment documents.
Open the receipt to view it, then:
Download a PDF copy, or
Email it to the tenant.
What's on a receipt
A payment receipt is itemized: facility name and details, tenant name and address, unit number, transaction date, each charge paid (with its invoice number) and its tax, the payment amount and method (e.g., Visa ending 4242, ACH, cash, Check #1234), any credit card surcharge, and the total paid. If a tenant overpays, the receipt shows the overpayment and the resulting account credit.
A refund receipt shows the facility and tenant details, the unit, the refund date, the refund method, the total refunded, and a reference to the original transaction. Refunds spanning multiple units show the amount applied to each.
Finding receipts in the Tenant Portal
Tenants can access their own receipts from the Tenant Portal. Under Billing History, each payment and refund shows its receipt alongside the tenant's invoices. Open a receipt to view it, then download a PDF copy.
