Summary
Monument provides a set of data layer events representing user actions inside the rental iframe. We pre-built the GTM container that will allow you to integrate GA4 tracking of rental iframe events into your own GTM environment in a couple of clicks.
Before implementation, make sure that Monument’s GTM is deployed on your website alongside your own GTM. This will enable the script to listen for events from the iframe.
After you confirm that both GTMs are present on the website, download the pre-built GTM container from this link.
Then import the downloaded GTM container into your existing GTM using the button as per the screenshot and follow the instructions:
Upload the GTM container you just downloaded.
Pick your workspace (usually it’s just Default Workspace)
If you have a brand new GTM container, pick Overwrite, then move to step 4. If you already have some tags in your GTM, pick Merge, then move to step 4.
Click the ‘Add to workspace’ button
After the container is imported, go to the ‘Variables’ section and replace dummy GA4 Measurement ID with your own GA4 measurement ID.
If you already have Google Tag (GA4 configuration tag) in your GTM, remove the tag marked in the screenshot below. If you don’t have Google Tag yet, keep everything unchanged.
Don’t forget to publish the container. At this moment, the GTM configuration is finished, and events will start flowing to your GA4. Since events contain multiple parameters (dimensions), which may provide valuable insights, we recommend also utilizing these parameters (dimensions) in your GA4. To add them, follow the steps in the screenshot below.
